Do install outdoor lighting.
Outdoor lighting is a great way to keep your property secure. Making sure that your entryways and paths are lit ensures that if someone approaches your home, they are more likely to be seen.
An added bonus to outdoor lighting is that certain types can be motion sensor-activated, meaning that if a burglar is trying to sneak up to your house, they will immediately be caught out by the motion-activated lights and hopefully scared off.
