What our customers say

Fire Systems from Central FS

At Central FS we take the time to find the most suitable fire safety products for your business and use our network of contacts to ensure competitive pricing. From fire alarms to extinguishers, we can install whatever your property needs.

Fire Extinguishers

Our experts will work with you to assess what fire extinguishers your property needs and suggest a range of fire safety options that will work for you. We will sit with you and explain each fire installation option to ensure that your fire safety plan covers where and when to use the right extinguisher.

Getting the type and the position right matters, because the wrong extinguisher on the wrong fire can make things worse. Our fire extinguishers page covers the different types and where they go.

Fire Risk Assessment

The Regulatory Fire Safety Order and The Fire Act dictate that all businesses must designate an employee who is responsible for the safety of the business.

We identify the hazards, work out who is at risk, and give you an actionable report you can put to use. Acting on it reduces the risk of fire and helps prevent one starting in the first place. Full details are on our fire risk assessment page.

Fire Alarms

Our team of expert fire safety engineers will evaluate your property and install a series of top of the range fire detection measures. A series of high quality fire alarms paired with an efficient safety plan form the basis of an effective fire safety system.

Addressable Fire Alarms

Addressable fire alarms are designed for larger properties and can identify the exact fire detector which has been activated. This allows your employees to evacuate the premises safely and quickly.

Fire Suppression

Our team will take the time to assess your property and install the best fire suppression system for you. We will explain each option and ensure your fire safety plan comprehensively covers where and when to use particular extinguishers.

We can also provide signage to help ensure your employees know what to do if a fire strikes. In many buildings the suppression works alongside the alarms, so a fire is both detected and contained

Fire safety training

Equipment only works if people know how to use it. We can train your staff to raise the alarm, use an extinguisher safely, and get everyone out in the event of a fire. It is practical, hands-on training built around your premises and the risks in it, not a generic slideshow.

Fire safety for your business

If you run a business, the law puts fire safety squarely on your shoulders. Under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, every non-domestic property has a duty holder, usually the employer, owner or occupier, who has to make sure a fire risk assessment is done and the right fire safety measures are in place. Fall short of the fire safety regulations and you risk enforcement action, an invalid insurance policy, and a real danger to the people inside.

HMO Fire Safety From Central FS

We help organisations across Scotland stay safe from fire and compliant with their duties. That covers fire risk assessments, the alarms and detection, the extinguishers, suppression and training, and the ongoing maintenance and review of fire safety that keeps everything working. You get one company and one point of contact, with all of it tested and certificated. Higher-risk premises such as high-rise buildings, HMOs and care settings carry stricter duties, and we are used to the extra requirements they bring.

Home fire safety in Scotland

Fire safety at home changed in 2022. Every Scottish home now needs interlinked smoke alarms, a heat alarm in the kitchen, and a carbon monoxide alarm wherever there is a fuel-burning appliance. Older, unlinked battery alarms no longer meet the standard, so if yours are more than a few years old, it is worth getting them checked. We fit compliant alarms for homeowners across Glasgow, and the full requirements are set out on our fire alarm installation page.

If you let out property, the same standard applies and the responsibility sits with you as the landlord, so it is worth getting your alarms checked before a tenant ever has to raise it. We work with private landlords and housing associations to keep rented homes compliant. Keeping your home, or your tenant’s home, safe from fire starts with working, interlinked alarms in the right places.

For free fire safety advice at home, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service runs a free home fire safety visit. Call 0800 0731 999 to book a visit, and they will go through your smoke alarms, your escape plan and the main risks with you. It is a useful service, and we would point any homeowner towards it.

Why choose Central FS

As a BAFE accredited company, our fire protection work is independently audited against recognised standards. We are also a fire, security and electrical contractor, so the same team can wire your alarms, sort the electrics behind them, and handle any remedial work a risk assessment throws up. When we upgraded the fire, security and electrical systems for EnteroBiotix, that whole package came from one company.

Because we are independent, we are not tied to one manufacturer’s kit. We find what suits your property and your budget, install it properly to ensure it keeps working, and stand behind it with maintenance and aftercare. Our customers range from homeowners fitting their first alarms to businesses managing fire safety across several sites, and you always have one number to call when something needs sorting.

Fire safety across Glasgow and Central Scotland

We look after fire safety for homes and businesses across Glasgow, the Central Belt and throughout Scotland, out towards Edinburgh, Stirling and Perth. From our Glasgow head office and our Perth base, we reach most of the country quickly for installation, maintenance, or an emergency call-out. If an alarm fails or a system faults out of hours, our on-call service means you are not left waiting for the next working day.

Fire safety questions answered

How much does a fire safety check cost?

It depends what you need. A home smoke alarm upgrade is a quick, fixed-price job, while a commercial fire risk assessment or a full fire alarm system is priced to the property. We quote before we start, with no obligation, so call 0141 530 1244 for a price.

What are the new rules for smoke alarms in Scotland?

Since February 2022, every home in Scotland must have interlinked smoke alarms, a heat alarm in the kitchen, and a carbon monoxide alarm near any fuel-burning appliance. We cover the full detail, and fit compliant alarms, on our fire alarm installation page.

Do I need to train my staff in fire safety?

If you employ people, fire safety training is part of meeting your duties. Your staff should know how to raise the alarm, use the nearest extinguisher, and evacuate safely. We can deliver that training at your premises and leave you with a record of it for your fire safety file.

What firefighting equipment does my business need?

It depends on your building and what you do in it. Most premises need a mix of extinguishers matched to the risks, clear signage, and often emergency lighting and fire alarms as well. A fire risk assessment tells you exactly what fire safety equipment you need, and we can supply and fit all of it.

How often should fire alarms and extinguishers be checked?

Fire alarms should be tested regularly and serviced at least once a year, and extinguishers need an annual service too, with a more thorough examination every few years. We can set you up on a maintenance schedule so nothing lapses and your fire safety records stay in order.

Where can I get fire safety advice?

For a home, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service gives free fire safety advice and will visit to check your alarms and escape plan. For a business, we will give you practical advice and guidance on what the law requires and how to meet it. Either way, you don’t have to work it out alone.

How do I report a fire safety concern in Scotland?

If you are worried about fire safety in a building, you can raise it with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, who can carry out a review of fire safety at the premises. If it is your own property and you want it put right, we can assess it and sort whatever is needed.
