Our NICEIC approved electricians handle everything from an EICR on a rented flat to a full commercial rewire, working across the domestic, commercial and industrial markets. Whatever the job, it is done to the current wiring regulations and certified when it is finished.

Electrical Services from Central FS
EICR Testing
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a legally required inspection report, often called a landlord safety test or home buyers test. All of the properties’ electrical installations should be covered by an in-date EICR report. Many legal documents today specifically require one to be in place. These reports are valid for 5 years. We like to operate on a contract basis with our clients to ensure their cover remains unbroken.

We carry out EICRs on domestic, commercial and industrial properties, and we can work on a contract basis so your cover never lapses.
PAT Testing
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure that they are safe to use. It is a simple way for employers and landlords to show their electrical appliances have been checked, and we can do it alongside your EICR in the same visit.
Re-Wiring
Whether you’re upgrading a property or simply making it habitable, we can re-wire any building, commercial or domestic. Whether you are upgrading a property, bringing an old building back into use, or dealing with failing circuits, we rewire domestic and commercial buildings to BS 7671, with as little disruption as we can manage.

Emergency Electrical Work Scotland
Our electrical experts offer a rapid-response 24/7 emergency electrical service for emergencies, so we are always on hand to help you should a disaster strike. Our expert electricians are experienced and cost-effective.
Lighting
Indoor or outdoor, domestic or commercial, filament or LED, there is no lighting solution we can’t help with. We will advise, educate and help you to make the best decision for your home or business.
Good lighting cuts running costs and makes a space safer and easier to use. For commercial premises we also install and test emergency lighting, which the law requires you to keep maintained.

Fuse Board Replacement
Your fuse board, or consumer unit, controls and protects every circuit in the building, and older boards often lack the RCD protection now expected. We replace and upgrade consumer units so your installation is properly protected, then test and certify the work afterwards.
Electrical safety and the rules in Scotland
Electrical work in Scotland follows different rules to England. There is no Part P here. Instead, work is governed by the Scottish Building Standards, and jobs such as a new circuit, a rewire or a consumer unit change can need a building warrant from your local authority. All electrical installation work should meet BS 7671, the national wiring regulations, and be certified by a competent electrician.
We handle the standards and the paperwork for you. We tell you upfront whether your job is notifiable, sort any warrant that is needed, and issue the right certificate at the end, so you have proof the work is compliant.

Commercial and industrial electrical
Beyond domestic work, we look after commercial and industrial clients across Scotland. That covers full fit-outs, distribution boards and three-phase power, maintenance contracts, and testing programmes that keep a site compliant. On industrial sites, we work with the higher loads and hazardous environments that come with the territory. We specialise in electrical work for busy commercial and industrial premises, and our engineers plan the job around your operation to keep downtime down.
When we fitted out the electrical installation for Starbucks on Sauchiehall Street, that included the distribution boards, emergency lighting, rewiring and equipment connections, tested and signed off to programme.
Electrical maintenance and testing
Keeping a building’s electrical systems safe is not a one-off job. We offer planned electrical maintenance and testing for commercial and industrial clients across Scotland, from scheduled EICRs and PAT testing to fault-finding and repairs. A maintenance contract keeps your testing on schedule, spreads the cost, and means a reliable local team is on call when something fails. As an electrical company that also handles your fire and security, we can roll it into one plan and one visit.
Why choose Central FS
Electrical work runs on trust, because most of it ends up hidden in walls and boards where you cannot check it yourself. We are NICEIC approved, so our work is independently assessed against the national standards, and our electricians are qualified, tidy and straight with you about what a job needs. We turn up when we say we will, and we certify what we do.
Because we are also a fire and security contractor, we can join up your electrics, your alarms and your wider facilities management. We also fit solar and EV charging, so as your building’s energy needs change, the same team can handle it. You get one provider and one number, and people who already know your building.
Electrical services across Glasgow and Scotland
We provide electrical services across Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and the surrounding areas, and cover the whole of Scotland from our Glasgow and Perth bases. From a single socket to a site-wide contract, and from a domestic flat to an industrial unit, we can help.
Electrical Services FAQ
How much does an EICR cost in Scotland?
It depends on the size and type of property, because a one-bedroom flat has far fewer circuits to test than a large commercial unit. We give you a fixed price before we start, so call 0141 530 1244 for a quote. Regular EICRs on a contract usually work out cheaper than one-off tests.
Who can carry out an EICR in Scotland?
An EICR must be done by a competent, registered electrician with the right qualifications. As an NICEIC approved contractor, we are qualified to carry out and certify EICRs on domestic, commercial and industrial properties across Scotland.
What electrical work is notifiable in Scotland?
Scotland does not use Part P like England does. Instead, certain jobs, such as installing a new circuit, rewiring, or major work on the consumer unit, can need a building warrant under the Scottish Building Standards. We will tell you whether your work is notifiable and handle the warrant if one is required.
How often should an EICR be done?
For rented homes in Scotland, at least every five years, or at a change of tenancy. Owner-occupiers are advised to have one about every ten years, and most commercial properties every five. If you have never had one, or you have just bought an older property, it is worth getting one done.
What are the signs I might need rewiring?
Warning signs include frequent tripping, scorched or discoloured sockets, an old fuse board with rewireable fuses, flickering lights, or wiring that has not been touched in decades. If you notice any of these, book an EICR and we will tell you whether a full rewire is needed or a smaller repair will do.
